December 2009

Welcome to the last PLR e-newsletter of 2009.

PLR staff are busy preparing the annual statements which are due to be posted after the Christmas break.

The PLR newsletter which we enclose with the statements has a new look this year, and includes a useful summary of important PLR dates and deadlines for you to pin on your noticeboard at home. We hope you like the new design and find the reminders helpful.

Online statements will be available to view on 6 January 2010.  An email will be sent to those who have an activated online account to advise that their statement is available.  Users may then log into their secure online account to view/print their statement.

Statements will be posted second class on 6 January to those who do not have an online account. Statements will only be posted to those who are due to receive a payment (ie those who have earned £1 or more). Online statements will be made available to view regardless of the amount earned.

If you would like to view your statement online and you do not currently have an online account, you must apply for an online account before the office closes for the Christmas break on 24 December.

Online transactions submitted after 24 December (including log in applications) will not be dealt with until the office re-opens on 4 January 2010.

Please bear in mind that January is our busiest time of the year, therefore it may take us a little longer than usual to respond to queries and answer telephone calls. Our website www.plr.uk.com contains useful information, in particular our FAQ page. You may find it helpful to refer to this if you have a query of a general nature.

Those who experience problems logging into their online account may find it useful to refer to the Online Account Help section of our website.

Happy Christmas from PLR staff! The next e-newsletter is due in May 2010.

If you do not wish to receive these emails, send a message with UNSUBSCRIBE as the subject heading to authorservices@plr.uk.com

If you are unable to view this newsletter properly, it is also available at www.plr.uk.com/allaboutplr/news/dec09 enews.htm

PLR in the media

plr media image

As most of you will know PLR has been celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year and it has certainly been a very busy and successful year.

The widespread media coverage our anniversary received resulted in 2,310 new authors registering since 1 January 2009 – the highest number to register in a single year since our very first year of operation.

Articles in many national and local newspapers, author publications and features on radio and television allowed us to reach a lot of people who had never heard about PLR.

Amongst the new applicants this year were a few high profile writers who had not been told about the scheme previously. They have now registered with us but have missed out on payments they could have received if they had been told about the scheme earlier. This highlights the need for us to get the word out and let everyone know about PLR.

We contact publishers, agents and many authors groups to promote the scheme, but most authors registering for the first time find out about us through their family and friends.

Please help us ‘spread the word’ by forwarding this email to friends or colleagues who may be eligible so that they do not miss out.
